Many Dermatologists and Aestheticians agree that there are four major factors that can contribute to the rapid aging of skin:
1. Sunlight - Creates a pattern of wrinkles.
2. Gravity - Both gravity and inactivity of the muscles can elongate the facial muscles.
3. Muscle Movements - Frowning, squinting, pursing your lips and other contortions of the face can create unsightly lines.
Disuse of your facial muscles can create atrophy that looks like puffiness from edema (fluid retention in your tissues), hollowness in your upper cheek area, loss of skin tone and elasticity, and shifts in muscle tone.
4. Sleeping Positions - Sleeping on too flat pillows and sleeping on your stomach is a no-no.
Facial Magic is a set of isometric exercises, also called neuromuscular facial retraining, that can be done at home to naturally contour the face. You would use your thumbs and fingers strategically to create a contraction (or tensing) in the facial muscles. They are being plumped and toned. According to Rowland, this can result in a brighter face and energized with increased oxygen to reverse the effects of aging from lack or oxygen to the outer skin tissues.
Typically, facial muscles can elongate up to 1/2 inch by age 55 due to gravity. This can drag the face down with the look of lines, creases and folds.
By doing Facial Magic system in a relaxed way that slow and steady for 15 - 20 minutes daily (for six days a week), you can dramatically reshape and contour a sagging, out of shape face.
The fingers are positioned to anchor the facial muscles, creating a slight tension. This is done with a thumb or forefinger placed inside the mouth to grasp the end of a muscle.
Each one of the exercises require 35-seconds of contraction done in three repetitions. They are designed to address fifteen regions of the face.
In addition, oxygenation of the muscles is important, so deep breathing is important to do with the Facial Magic exercise techniques.
The Facial Magic program recommends that you do a different exercise weekly. There are eighteen of them altogether to address pouches, jowls, a double chin, vertical forehead lines, laugh lines and more.
"Learn two exercises each week to look 10 - 15 years younger in just 12 weeks," explains Rowland.
Within a week of doing the facial exercises, you may notice subtle differences in the look and feel of your facial muscles in the upper eye and upper cheek areas. A good practice is recording by photo the increased toning, smoothed out effect that can happen every few weeks for 3 - 4 months.
By doing the Facial magic exercises regularly, it can result in more permanent changes to look many years younger.
